Sundays

Worship

We gather for worship on Sundays at either 9:00 am for Zoom worship or in-person worship at 10:00 am to praise and worship God in community. Services are led by our pastor with the involvement of our members.

The invitation for the Zoom worship is sent to all church members. If you are a visitor or do not receive the invitation, please email Rev. Cyndy using the link on the Staff page.

For the safety of the congregation and our community, certain safeguards are in place:

1. Masks and social distancing are optional and encouraged for anyone not vaccinated.

2. Hand sanitizer will be recommended as you enter and leave the sanctuary.

3. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before worship starts at 9:45 am.

4. The front section by the piano is still taped off and reserved for anyone who would prefer social distancing and masking. The great room will continue to be available as well. Bulletins will be available at the entrance by the piano.

5. No fellowship in the Great Room. We will continue to gather and socialize outside.

6. You may use the hymnals to read the words to the hymns. Please hum rather than sing, and feel free to express yourself with the instruments in the pews.

7. The building may be accessed during the week. If you enter while the Head Start staff or children are present, please wear a mask, according to the Head Start guidelines.

We gather around the Word of God to listen for the Spirit’s voice speaking. Through the scriptures read, sung, and proclaimed we are moved to respond through prayer, offerings, and service. We are then sent back out into the world to proclaim God’s good news and to share the love of Christ.

Communion

The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday however, due to health concerns communion may be rescheduled. As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), FPC has an open table. Invitation to the Lord's Supper is extended to all who have been baptized and hold Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Baptized children, who are being nurtured and instructed in the significance of the Lord's Supper, are invited to participate in the celebration of communion.

Music

Music is a spiritual experience and an integral part of worshiping God. By incorporating a variety of styles—hymns,  choral, and instrumental pieces—it is our hope that all worshipers find some music meaningful to them at every service.

Children in Worship

Jesus welcomed the children to "come unto me" (Matthew 19:14). Therefore, we as a congregation commit ourselves, when we baptize children, to nurture their faith and support their families. That support means welcoming children of all ages in worship. We believe that their presence in worship enriches the gathered community with their sense of wonder and enthusiasm.

Our ushers have children's activity bags for use during worship and our family area, located next to the sanctuary, features quite activities for children who would like to take a short break from the service.
